Public Transport Surveys
Count On Us has substantial experience working with all types of public transport operators (rail, bus, ferry, underground, tram, air) and other key decision makers. We have completed both count and interview surveys at every main rail station in the UK and have on-going boarding and alighting passenger surveys across the rail industry.
With our experienced pool of in house staff linked through our regional offices we can mobilise large teams to collect extensive quantitative and qualitative data on passengers and/ or levels of service delivery. Both count data and travel questionnaires, either completed at stops or during the journey, provide a wide of range of information for planning and review of services.
Innovative solutions using our mobile camera systems have helped operators identify “pinch points” in the flow of either people or goods through interchanges. For example passenger delay at security gates monitored at an airport and pedestrian routes between escalators and stairs at several rail/ underground stations.
Our wide range of bespoke data collection techniques enable us to provide a wealth of additional behavioural detail relating to key issues such as passenger queuing for tickets and other purchases; occupancy levels and dwell times; the impact on the flow of other pedestrians; detailed tracking of pedestrians within rail or bus interchanges and the administration of face to face interviews to place pedestrian movements ‘in context’.
