Drive time for Golden River!

Our very own Peter Cattell had five minutes of fame yesterday evening as the expert on BBC Radio 2 Drivetimes “Homework Sucks” slot with Simon Mayo, where he explained the virtues of Golden River TPoles.

"Homework Sucks" allows parents to ask the nation for help with school homework questions. Last night the query was; “what are the solar panels at the side of the road used for?”

Pete explained that these solar panels are Golden River TPoles which are used to power vehicle counter classifier machines, housed in the base of the solar unit. He went on to say that a range of information is generated from this equipment including vehicle count, speed, length and classification and this is all fed in to the National Traffic Control Centre for use by the Highways Agency to help provide drivers with traffic information.

Pete says “It was a great opportunity to explain to the nation what TPoles are actually used for and how the information which is generated helps road users”.
